When we know the nature of the assignment or international business, the business objectives, the professional interactions, and the reporting structure, our intercultural consultants are able to design a cross cultural training programme to meet each employee's needs and overlay it with the specific intercultural interactions of the new culture. These programmes are commonly called “Cross Cultural Training Programmes”. However, in programmes designed for international assignees and their family (if they have one), that is just half the story. Our programmes for expatriate assignees also look at adjustment issues and culture shock. Frequently assignees are so focused on the moving process, the cross cultural programme is the first opportunity they have had to devote an appropriate amount of time to what happens when they arrive and the months beyond that.
